With the defection of Abdul Herrera and the futures of Hernol Hall and Adam Hrycaniuk still cloudy, Mick Cronin landed a player that fills a vital need for his Bearcats, a horse inside. Belton is 6'8 and 245 lbs and has the size and strength to battle in the paint at the Big East level. Coming from Dudley HS, the same high school as Eric Hicks, Belton averaged 14.7 PPG as a junior. He is a true low-block horse that is physically ready for college basketball right now. he still needs to develop offensive skills other than just rebound and stick backs, but he gives the Bearcats much needed size.
A class of Larry Davis, Rashad Bishop and Belton is a solid trio and Cronin will have at least one scholarship to hand out the spring with Herrera leaving the program. If Hall and/or Hrycaniuk are not cleared by the NCAA, additional scholarship(s) could be available.
